The sun joins the holidays

After storm Austen and its 150 km/h gusts, high pressure settles over France. Up to 24 °C on Tuesday, and a Wednesday forecast just the same for the second week of the autumn break.

The holidays had begun under storm Austen, its 150 km/h gusts and a lid of cloud over the northern half. On Tuesday, the sky changed its mind. “High pressure takes a firm hold over France”, sums up Sud Radio’s forecast. Paris gets a largely clear sky again, the thermometer climbs to 17 or 19 °C in the capital, with peaks at 21.

24 °C
expected on Tuesday on the Mediterranean coast, the mildest part of the country

Twenty degrees from Lille to Lyon

Everywhere, the same late-season mildness. Lille goes from 12 °C in the morning to 19 or 21 in the afternoon. Lyon shows 20 °C, Strasbourg 18. The south-west leads the way, Bordeaux and Toulouse climb to 22 or 23 °C, and the Mediterranean coast touches 22 to 24 °C, mistral at rest. Mornings stay cool, 4 °C in the north and east, enough to take the scarf out before the T-shirt.

A week to catch up on autumn

Wednesday “keeps this fine trend with a sunny sky”, and the week looks calm, dry and mild until school resumes on 2 November. In the parks, on the beaches, on café terraces, France has a week to catch up on its autumn. What do you do with a sun you no longer expected?
