A rapper in Bordeaux, a hundred signatures in Politis, a standing chamber. Since Pengo Bossio Wangi, 26, was killed in Trappes, the French scene refuses to stay silent.

On 26 and 27 October, at the Arkéa Arena in Bordeaux, Orelsan played a track nobody had heard before, lyrics about the state of the country, Sud Ouest reports. Phones went up, the clips did the rounds overnight. The rapper from Caen has not commented (but we love it).

A new track at the Arkéa Arena

On Tuesday, nearly a hundred public figures signed a text in Politis calling for people to “refuse silence and indifference”, four days after Trappes. They denounce the trivialisation of racist talk and draw a line to the media coverage of 17 October. The suspect told investigators he wanted to go after “Blacks” and “Arabs”; a copy of Mein Kampf was found at his home.

An open letter and a minute of silence

At 3 pm, the National Assembly observed a minute of silence for Pengo Bossio Wangi. One singer, a hundred signatures, a chamber on its feet. When artists speak, does the country hear anything other than songs?
