Since 2015 and the civil war, almost nobody flew over Libya. On 23 October, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the UN agency, lifted its restrictions, announced in Doha; Libya’s transport ministry made it public on Monday. From November, airlines from all over the world can cross that sky again.

Gas at Mnazi Bay

In southern Tanzania, at Mnazi Bay, the state company TPDC and France’s Maurel & Prom struck gas at the Kasa-1X well: between 200 and 223 billion cubic feet, the country’s first major discovery in ten years. Gas already provides 80% of Tanzania’s electricity.

Ebola, contacts released

And Ebola, which has killed nearly 5,000 people since the spring? Nigeria, which received an imported case on 20 October, has none left and hopes to declare the outbreak over on 7 December, if nothing changes by then. In Kenya, twenty people left quarantine after 21 days without symptoms. In DR Congo, a vaccine trial began on 23 October in Bunia. Who said Africa only brought bad news?
