One hundred and eleven, and we knew

111 women killed by their partner or ex in 2025. A third had already been beaten, most had said so. We knew. This paper does not want to write that figure again next year.

111. It is not a figure, it is a list of first names nobody has read to the end. 111 women killed by the man who shared their life, in 2025, four more than in 2024. 25 men too. And 445 women who survived the attempt, the ones counted nowhere. The interior ministry published the study on 13 October. It did not make the front page. It should have.

They had warned

What outrages us is what comes next. 37% of these women had already suffered violence. Six in ten had said so, at a police station, and almost all had filed a complaint. They did exactly what they are asked to do. Only one had an emergency phone, only one an alert button. The others went home with a receipt.

The same day, not in six weeks

We do not want this to happen to them. We want a complaint to trigger protection the same day, not an appointment in six weeks; him to leave, not her; the bracelet fitted before, not after. What brings the figure down, the studies keep saying, is the speed between the call and the protection. For 2026, the state is not counting yet; the collectives stand at 109. How many called? Who answered?
