The demands
Three weeks in the street, three lists. The pupils want places and teachers, the Yellow Vests enough to live on, the unions pay rises. Here are the demands, the ones that got an answer and the others.
· N° 12
This morning, at the school gates, Pierre Sourzat and the Lycéens! movement are blockading with a short list: Parcoursup, the admissions platform, rebuilt or scrapped, absent teachers replaced, schools renovated, the right to protest without rubber bullets. The students have costed their ten demands at 10 billion euros, including 250,000 university places. The government answered on 26 October, four measures, opposite. “Almost nothing,” says Pierre Sourzat.
Living with dignity
The Yellow Vests, for their part, put no figure on anything. They want to “live with dignity”: Emmanuel Macron’s departure, an end to rubber bullets and to police custody for minors, for some a citizens’ initiative referendum, for all a national conference. Opposite, not a word, except diesel, 21 cents cheaper since yesterday.
Thursday, the strike
The unions want pay talks everywhere and the minimum wage, pensions and public-sector pay raised; the CFDT adds a 2% tax on fortunes above 100 million. Sébastien Lecornu promises work “in the coming weeks”. “No account taken at all,” ruled Sophie Binet. The strike is Thursday. A pupil in their final year will be twenty when Parcoursup disappears. Who, exactly, has been answered?
