America has voted

Overnight, the Democrats took back both chambers of Congress: 228 seats to 139 in the House, 54 to 44 in the Senate. Donald Trump says he is “willing to accept” the result. He will govern for two years without a majority.

The students of UNCG, in Greensboro, North Carolina, marched for miles in procession to go and vote. Polling places had been closed in majority-Black neighbourhoods, and hours-long queues formed where few people vote for Donald Trump: making the vote slow and hard for those who are not on your side, as in Brazil ten days ago, where voters were left at the bus stop for lack of buses and voting had to be extended by two hours. They voted all the same.

In three years, the Moon

China has published its timetable: three uncrewed flights from 2027, then astronauts on the Moon before 2030, a base and a reactor. Greenland has ratified its security agreement, and three African swimmers finished in the top six of the 200 m breaststroke in Dakar.

In Beijing, on 31 October, an engineer set a date in front of the cameras: early 2027, the first uncrewed test flight of the Long March 10A rocket, then two more, then two taikonauts on the Moon before 2030. The plan also provides for a lunar base and a nuclear reactor on site; Mars will wait. The United States, for its part, still aims for a crewed return with Artemis. Two countries, one Moon, and for the first time since 1972 a precise timetable.

Why we write it

At first, I printed this paper for myself alone, every morning. I wanted to know what mattered in France, in Paris and in the world without spending an hour scrolling through screens. So I sorted, then I wrote.

filou d’actu is that sorting, shared. A few topics chosen every day, told simply, with the names of the media the facts come from. You read it with your coffee, from start to finish, then get on with your day.
