Zero votes for the budget

While 252 marches form this Thursday, from Paris to Marseille, the 2027 budget left the National Assembly without a single vote in favour: 458 against, two abstentions. The Senate takes up the original text on 20 November. And at the BHV, two entrepreneurs want a Made in France department store.

This Thursday morning, secondary schools blockaded from 7 am, missing regional trains, and 252 demonstrations on the CGT’s map. Domestic intelligence expects 500,000 to 700,000 people outside Paris, after three Saturdays of protest against the cost of living. The court upheld the République-Nation route; Laurent Nuñez deploys 70,000 police and gendarmes.

458 against, none for

The evening before, in a half-empty chamber, MPs rejected the revenue side of the 2027 budget: 458 votes against, two abstentions, not one in favour. Each camp had deleted what bothered it, and no one wanted the result. The deficit would drift towards 5.9% of GDP, says David Amiel. The Senate takes up the original text on 20 November; Matignon talks of December, and of a possible 49.3.

Rue de Rivoli

Rue de Rivoli, meanwhile, Émilie Auvray and Charles Huet propose to take over a third of the BHV, in receivership since Monday: 900 brands, 90% Made in France, 250 of 700 jobs saved, 15 million euros to find. A march, a budget with no votes, a department store up for grabs: this Thursday, who is building what?
